I was born in 1982 in Zagreb, Republic of Croatia. I earned my Master’s degree in Croatian Culture and Philosophy at the University Centre for Croatian Studies and Master’s degree in Library Science at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb. In 2010 I started working as a Children Librarian in Library of August Cesarec, one of Zagreb City Libraries. Since 2017 I’ve been working as a Head of Mobile Library Service of Zagreb City Libraries.
My greatest motivation for being a librarian is summed up in a quote by Brandt Legg in his dystopian book The Last Librarian:  Books are more than words, they’re dreams, ideas, and answers, and that is why they fear them (…) – so that is why I want to share my love of books with others.

In my opinion it is very important that every individual is able to participate in our (often complex) current society. I try to contribute by:

  • bringing the mobile libraries with library (and other extended services) to the local communities, especially villages with lesser facilities;
  • offering a safe place in the (mobile) library where people can meet, read, learn, create;
  • organising programs for children age 0-14 to prevent illiteracy;
  • organising programs for adults to fight illiteracy;
  • organising courses where people can improve their digital skills.

Dr. Prokai Margit
Miskolc (HU)

1981 óta dolgozom a II. A miskolci Rákóczi Könyvtárba vezérelt életutamon, a Rákóczi-család hitvallását tartottam vezérfonalként szemem előtt: „Nem azon múlik, aki törtet, vagy aki akar, hanem a könyörülő Istenen.”

Dr. Vraukóné Lukács Ilona
Nyíregyháza (HU)

I have been in the service of libraries and reading for three and a half decades, within Hungary’s borders and beyond.
Right after graduation I taught in higher education, then I obtained practical experience, in virtually all fields of the profession, at ”Zsigmond Móricz” City and County Library. I found my calling in supporting the libraries of small settlements, and those in ethnic Hungarian areas across the border, especially in the Subcarpathian region of Ukraine and Szatmár county in Romania. I have used the experience gained in my work in organizing the professional adult- and further education for nearly a decade.  Although had not been directly involved in the preparations for launching the bibliobus service, but I was pleased to meet the challenge soon after it started.
Despite all the difficulties, we see the miracle every day. A miracle that nobody else can see.
